Au Club Alpin has been a family-run restaurant and gite for 3 generations. The present day café was the original restaurant built by the mountain guide, Emile Crettex in 1939. He and his wife ran the restaurant until their daughter, Marie-José Crettex took over in 1969. She and her husband, Charles de Rivaz expanded the size of the restaurant, adding the current dining room.

Marie-José ran the restaurant and gite for over 3 decades with the help of her husband and children. In 2005, two of her children, Marie-Christine Crettex and Charles-Emmanuel de Rivaz took over. This brother and sister team continue to run the establishment today.
